Once the initial Zardozi capacity building training package is completed, women go on to access a variety of business support services through a grass-roots, membership based association called Nisfe Jahan (Half the World) which was initiated by Zardozi who are now guiding it to sustainability and independence. In return for a monthly membership fee, Nisfe Jahan members access business services through community business centres – all centres (each centre serves 40 to 50 members) are established within walking distance of member’s houses.
Nisfe Jahan currently has 4 regional chapters in the cities of Kabul, Jalalabad, Mazar and Herat. Zardozi plans to take Nisfe Jahan to every major Afghan city. Each region has an elected Executive Committee, each member representing one community business centre.
